the 1st gen did scratch very easily, this led to many people retuning them as it was a design flaw, this design flaw has since been fixed, so the answer to your question is no they don't scratch eaisily (anymore)

its does scratch actual I had mine 2 day and already have been given scratches on the decrease back. I went to wal-mart and offered a protector case for $19.ninety 5 its clean and it snaps which comprise 2 areas a front protector and a decrease back, its additionally has a belt clip on it. it works large and it would not take up lots room.
