i had my clit pierced and i took it out to go to the doc appt abd then just have not put it back in i have only had it since august and i got pregnant right after i got it so i am pretty sure it is closed now but i would see not reason in taking it out until labor, the only reason i did was because of choice...and forgot about it and when i remembered it the hole looks closed now so i have not tried to put it back in...i would just ask your doc... the only piercing i ever took out during pregnancy was my belly button but thats an obvious because your stomach stretches

u can keep the jewelry in until the day you are in the hospital ... since you wont know when that is ... and during labor is not the best time to try and unscrew jewelry, I'd suggest removing them around the time you are expecting. As for belly button ... they suggest you remove it to avoid ugly stretch marks that tend to occur when you leave it in ... you can push in once in a while to keep it open if its a fairly new piercing, but if you had it for a long time 3yrs + ... chances are it wont close up and you definitely dont want stretch marks right by the ring because after baby when you put it back in, it will look nasty. So as for the others, just remove close to delivery time.

My OB told me I should remove my navel piercing, so I had my hubby remove it. Now I have a little scar that I will probably have for life.
He didn't say why I needed to remove it, but I said I didn't care that much about it anymore, so I just removed it to be on the safe side. Plus I think with my belly sticking out so much now I am better off (I am 22 weeks now so the ring would have gotten in the way a lot.)

The clit piercing should be fine until delivery unless the Dr. tells you otherwise. They suggest taking out belly button piercings due to the stretching that occurs in the area. Once in the hospital you might ask a lactation consultant about the nipple piercings and what, if any, effect it has on breast feeding.
Congrats on your new edition!

I only had my tongue and belly button pierced. The ob told me to remove my tongue ring, only because they though I would need a c/section and were thinking and epi would't work (long story), so I would need a breathing tube down my throat and that would interfere. I removed the belly one because it itched all around it and drove me nuts. Plus as I got further along it looked funny sticking out, you could see it through my shirts.

Being present for both of my wifes deliveries and seeing how much certain openings stretch, I would rather remove my piercings than have them torn out. Just my 2 cents.

I had one in my belly and all first 5 babies didn't make it stretches but by the six it started to tear and i had to take it out. I think near the end you would, you can swell and stretches any where when your pregnant, and you wouldn't want it to tear, or get court on any thing. And my friend had to take out her tongue one out just in case something went wrong and she had to go under the knife. So if i was you, i would leave it in as long as you can, then take it out for the big moment, and stick it straight back in so it doesn't close up. (Hoped i helped.)

the only peircing i have right now is in my belly button and my doctor said i could keep it in but i took that out because it started to tear out. but the only reason i think you would have to take the other one out that you mentioned would be when you think its time for the baby to come or if you get an infection of some sort. hope i helped a little.

from a medical stand point, most doctors want you to remove all jewelry for the sake of the sterilized environment. as far as it being in the way i don't see why it would that area doesn't see much action during delivery
