It depends on what level of respect you lost. Did you loose a little respect for him because you found out he was the class nerd it school or did you loose respect because he did something that goes against your moral fiber. Somethings you can overlook and somethings you can't.

There's no hard and fast rule to go by in matters like this. No one knows what you know and definitely none of us can "feel" what you "feel".

Our experiences - good or bad - influence how much we love or respect someone. If something happened that shakes up your love for him, you sure can continue to respect him for who he is. You just may not be as much in love with him.

If you feel deep inside that your love will always have the mark of that incident, you probably should try and openly talk about it to him or your close friends, if you can. If it still keeps bothering you, it probably will be bothering you long after you've gotten married to him.

That doesn't mean you cant be friends and respect him for who he is. That's different and can be separated in my opinion. Please don't do something that'll come back to haunt you later in life. At least buy some time to get over it. Best wishes. Email/IM if you like to discuss more.

Um,I know this first hand! If something has happened that has broken the trust that you once had for him,no matter how hard he tries, you can't make yourself love him again, try all you want, your still going to have in the back of your mind why he did whatever it was that he did...If you fake to love him again, not only are you deceiving him but, yourself as well, never sacrifice your own happiness and soul because you feel alone and think you won't find anybody else.

If you don't respect him than do not marry him. Wait until you find someone you love and respect over all others to marry. I am telling you from experience that if you move forward with this marriage you will end up unhappy.

If your fiance has done a great harm to you that you lose respect then I think love also goes away, but if its a minor mistake, then you can forgive and still go on loving.
