It's completely natural for a boy his age - let him do whatever
If it becomes a serious problem, just talk to him.

Relax. Despite your concern, all it shows is yrou son has discvered he can derive pleasure from his penis and that in and of iteslf is not harmful. In addition, he may well be started into puberty and you getting all bent out of shape over masturbating could cause him way more anxiety than any child deserves. So, be free and open with him, explain the effects of puberty so as to allay his worries and as for masturbation why not suggest it is fine as long as he keeps up with school work, chores, sports and a good social life (ie lots of friends and activities). OIh, and be sure to explain all about personal hygiene now that he is maturing; there is nothign more important than showering daily and after all activities that make him get hot and sweaty (including masturbating ).

Hello...
We've had four boys. They are all married, except the last one; but, all out of the house. 11 years is a little on the early side of things, and he probably will not ejaculate at his age yet. All boys do this and some girls also do it. It is perfectly natural, and I would not worry about it. As others have said, you should probably have a son to man chat with him tell him that what he is doing is okay, and should be done in private. He won't go blind, nor will anything else happen. Let nature take its course.

I understand your concern about your son. There are no side effects to masturbation, but perhaps you are wondering whether it is "normal" or not at his age. Here is an excellent resource for talking with your child about the subject, or just learning more for yourself:

Also, it might help to talk with someone you trust about why this topic makes you "anxious and worried". It is important not to pass on this anxiety and worry to your son.

This is a chance to start a pattern of open, positive communication about sex, which will really come in handy in a few years when you speak with him about being sexually responsible when he is teen/young adult.

Hey, no sweat. Im 14 and started at 10. It is really normal and is a strees reliever for most kids and dont say anything because it will make him feel wierd about doing it and its its a sighn that he is growing up and you need to give him a little more independence. if you want his dad to say something be calm about it and let him know to was his damn hands..lol. Ahh its fine and mabey even buy him a lil bottle of astro lube if you support him. Just dont discourage

Have you given him 'The Talk'? If not, do so. If he's masturbating,he's obviously old enough to know, and needs to. But in truth, masturbation is completely normal. Everyone does it, some more than others. Talk to your son about this if concerns you so badly, and tell him that it's fine in moderation.

Best of luck and happy holidays!

It wil not hurt him unless he masturbates too many times per week. Even so, it won't hurt him. Some men masturbate even when married. It is a perfectly normal function. Animals do it when they go into heat and cannot find a mate. Don't scare your son by telling him old wives tales about going blind, getting sick, etc.

have you caught him in the act? if so, you can calmly ask him if he has any questions for you - have you had "the talk" with him? it's normal. i'd be glad it's nothing more serious. he could be going to school with a gun or having sex already, you know? think back to when you were a young guy and when you started to do the same thing. you need to put yourself in his shoes.

Um...side effects?
There are none. It's normal. Let him be. He's discovering himself.
It's not like he's going to go out and get a girl pregnant.
He's just growing up.
