I live on the 7th floor of an apartment building and I clean the wood floor through out apartment everyday. I sweep first, then mop. But in a matter of hours, I could see my todler's feet have some dust on it already. Do you know how to keep the floor clean for at least 2 days? thank's

seriously, this is no joke and I am not trying to be rude but give your house a complete cleaning....top to bottom, dust settles everywhere and when you sweep you are stirring it up and it eventually settles back on your floor. Best advice is to pay someone to come in and do a complete cleaning top to bottom

If you have a wood stove, pellet stove or fireplace then that will create a huge amount of dust. If you keep your windows open dust will filter in, especially if you live in a city.

You might consider getting an air filter that will take the particles out of the air.

You also might check your filter on your heating system. Filters need changed at least every 6 months on your furnace.

Another thing to have done is to have your ducts vacuumed - this might be something your landlord will pay for, if not it is well worth the money. You will be amazed at the dirt that collects in your ducts. My mom recently moved into a new house and had her ducts cleaned - there were at least 5 large plastic bags filled with dust and debris from the homes ducts.

Good luck!

Your apartment probably has low humidity, due to heat and a/c. Low humidity causes wood, furniture and other items in your apartment to be negatively charged which attracts dust. Every time you open a door dust comes in from outside.

Also if you have forced hot air heat, when was the last time you changed the filter on you blower?

Wood floors are a pain. They are worse than tiles or carpet at showing every speck of dust and dirt. Besides cleaning them everyday--you may want to try Swiffer's products for hardwoods. They really do help cling the dirt to the product--instead of it flying around into the air only to settle again.
I bet you have dark wood.
Bummer.

Find a friend or neighbour with OCD who loves to clean and bring them over regularly.
