When play the Super Mario 64 DS game how do you find the button that activates the ? sqaure boxes?

When you get a certain amount of stars, a light will shine down through the window in that main hall. Stand in the circle as Mario and look up at the painting of clouds on the ceiling, you will be transported to the level where you unlock the blocks.

there are three of them actually and the first one is the flying cap which can be set up after you have so many starts (i forgot how many) and there is a light shiining down onto the center carpet in the main hall- look up into the light and do the level
