I am going to buy something online. If I purchase it right now, how long do you think it will take before it arrives here in Kursk, Russia (about 10 hours away from Moscow, the capital).

I am leaving to europe on 25th next month, do you think it will reach here in time for my trip?

It depends on where the item you're purchasing online is shipped from and how quickly the seller will mail the item out. Also, it makes a difference as to which mail carrier you use. For example, will you be using state post or commercial post?

If you purchase it now, one should almost be certain that it will reach you by 25 January. My mum has sent a few things to me (in Canada at the moment) from the Russian Federation a few times, but my family lives in North Ossetia in southwestern Russia. Perhaps it will even take less time for your item to reach you since Kursk is closer to the major cities in Europe and in the Russian Federation. I assume that most international packages leaving or entering the Russian Federation usually go through Moskva or Sankt Petersburg anyways.

I would guess that parcels from my mum probably never take more than 15 days or so to arrive; I've never really tested that though--I think that is generally the most a parcel should take if mailed most places though. I know that letters mailed from the Russian Federation (or Europe or Japan as well) usually take about 5 or 7 days to reach me in Canada.

However, it depends on which mail carrier you use. Mum uses a commercial mailer for parcels I think. It also depends on how quickly your packages make it through customs, and I have heard horror stories of how some packages have taken over 4 months to arrive or how the customs officials have had to confiscate materials (but it is probably materials which are obviously illegal to send anyway). There are so many variables that perhaps it just depends on your luck, and I wish you the best of it!
