For sanitary and hygenic reasons. It's easier to keep clean the area under the glans penis.
Women appreciate this.

All of the above answers are correct. It is easier for hygiene with the foreskin gone... It is a religious custom for jews and followers of the Old Testament. In fact, there was a big argument in the New Testament about whether it was required for new believers (uncircumsized) to have to be circumsized. The answer was no. Faith was enough.
It is usually done to baby boys. In the Bible it was done on the 8th or 9th day. (I can't remember.) Science has found that on this day there is an extra amount of a certain vitamin in the body. K, I believe. This helps in the healing process. In modern times, for convenience, the doctors will circumsize the baby in the first day or two, so the parents don't have to make a trip back to the hospital. I imagine it is extremely painful for teens and adults!

It became popular to circumcise boys in the United States because it makes masturbation much less pleasurable, as any man with a foreskin knows. But the urge to masturbate is so strong that boys did it anyway. Now it's just a fashion thing, and most educated people leave their boys uncut unless their religion requires it. The less educated believe (falsely) that it is necessary for hygienic reasons and do it for that reason. It is uncommon to cut boys or men in most of the world, and through education the United States is abandoning the practice as well.

There are very rare medical conditions that require grown men to have it done, but usually it is done out of the desire to look fashionable. Many men greatly regret having it done, but then it is too late, as the operation cannot be reversed. And some men are so jealous of uncut men that they try to talk everyone else into being mutilated the way they are. Sad.

For custom, to be part of the culture and/or religion (Jewish and Muslim men and various tribes), for family tradition, for its good looks and easier hygiene, because parents, wives and girl friends or other guys or they want it.

I was circumcised at birth and all males in my family are also. Most of my friends in school were and in college are. I was born in the USA. I am very happy that my parents had the good sense to have me circumcised. Most well educated persons in our country do it along with rich, middle class, and poor people. Many doctors do it as part of the birth process with no extra charge. Most others bring the infant back as an outpatient in a hospital, doctor's office or medical clinic. The cost is minimal.

Some have religious reasons. Those are few. Most for CLEANLINESS. It is easier to maintain and clean the circumcized penis.

Circumsized men also have a nearly ZERO chance of penile cancer. Uncircumcized men can get it more easily.

It is generally cleaner, but some would maintain that sensations are lowered when cirucmsized. This is unfounded.

Most men do what they want to do. This one is what the parents wanted to do. However, there is some good evidence that circumcised males are less likely (somewhat) to contract the HIV that causes AIDS. Looks like God knows what He's about, huh?

In most cases, our moms are optimists. They start cutting it off before they even know how long it's going to get.

because of ignorant suggestions from health professionals or from parents forcing it on their children. There is no reason to do it and it's errogoneous skin.
