Get a hav-a-hart live trap sized for gophers. The trap comes with bait suggestions. Set it and when it is sprung and the gopher is inside, pick it up by the handle, drive it someplace at least 3 miles away, and tip it over so the ends unlock and the gopher can run out.

Repeat until you are out of gophers.

Gophers main food is grubs so...get rid of the grubs by using a grub control insecticide...gophers tunnel very deep and only surface tunnel to feed, so traps and poison have only limited effect. trapping and releasing ANY animal is cruel. The animal is now in unkown territory for food, shelter or predator avoidance. It survival will be highly unlikely despite the best of intentions.

For reduction/elimination, trapping and baiting are your best choices. Be extra careful with poison baits if you have children or pets in the yard.

A few choice plants or a small flower bed might be protected with an underground fence of wire mesh.

Try a Have A Heart Trap. They are manufactured in Lititz, PA. I have also used the bombs from the Hardware Store. Be sure you find all the holes. There are usually three.

I believe that there are things that emit sounds that keep critters away. A family friend of mine has squirrels and raccoons in their house and put that gadget in the upstairs and it safely and humanly got rid of the animals.

Or else you could get a cat. My cat use to bring dead things to our front door all the time..so usually we would have to dig up our yard to burry it. Haha..

Try Scott's Turfbuilder 2. There's something in the weed killer that repels them.

Also, if you have a pellet gun and are a crack shot....my husband's picked off a few that way.
