ok, i take ortho trycyclin, i have been for about 7 years. if i keep with my regular schedule, i'll start taking the sugar pill on sunday, and get my period tuesday, then have it until tuesday. thing is, i leave for las vegas for the week on monday. i've heard that if i dont take the sugar pills and just start a new pack, then i shouldnt get it. i tried this once, years ago, and i just got it anyways and then kept spotting until my next period came. is that normal? can i do this without it happening again? i really want to have a nice relaxing vacation without dealing with my period!

as long as your dose is not above 35, a period is not necessary. Women feel that you need a period because its "natural" and to reassure they are not pregnant. However, because your body is used to having a period, you will most likely spot or experience break-through bleeding. :) I hope this helped you. I've ask my gyno everything in the book!

I take Yasmin and have had no problems with this technique. I have never had any spotting, but I have two friends (on two different pills) that have had the same issue that you have had.
I think that you should try again. You might not get the spotting, but even if you do get spotting...it should be a lot less than the full flow of your normal period. That should at the very least make it easier to deal with while you are on vacation.

I wish you lots of luck and I hope you have a great vacation!

I decided to EDIT my post in response to your additional data.
It is perfectly fine to skip a period because you are not messing with your "natural" system. ANYONE who is on birth control is experiencing a "false" period. You are not ovulating when you are on the pill, so it is not a true period.
When the birth control pill was first invented it was thought that it would not be accepted by women unless it mimicked our natural cycle, thus they included the 7 day sugar pill.
Skipping your period while on the pill will not mess with your natural cycle, because you aren't having a natural cycle to begin with!!!!!

Its'Me is talking about depo provera, which I took for four years and will never ever go back to it. It royally screws your body up.

You really really shouldn't mess with your system like that. Your MOM has a good reason not to, but you... you need to have a healthy reproductive system in order to have a baby!

I've been there done that with trying to skip a period. Yeah, it worked, but that was back in August and I've yet to get back on track with my cycle. If I could do it over again I would take the pills as stated on the packaging. I was on it for six months with regular periods until that moment that I decide to deceive my body.

Please don't cheat your body!

I did this with ortho tri a few months before my wedding. You can skip taking the sugar pills, you will not get your regular period, but it does not mean that you will not have spotting and it may take a little time for your period to become regular again. Your best option would have been to track your period a few months in advance to do this.

It can work, however you can still get spotting, which it sounds l ike you did last time you did this. Tricyclen isn't a really strong pill, so I'm not sure it can work as well as some other pills out there for stopping a period altogether. You can try it though, it won't hurt anything.

Messing up your natural biorythyms for a vacation? Risky, and somewhat foolish. Menstruation is a natural occurence and you can really mess yourself up doing such a thing with your birth control pills as you have already experienced once. You need to grow up and accept your body and it's functions.

the basically thanks to delay a era is with the pill. There are not any magic pills you may take to pass your era next month. i'd recommend speaking for your dr to work out what they recommend so a procedures as no matter if taking the pill even for a jiffy will be a secure element so that you may do.

Your OB/GYN can give you a shot that will allow you to skip your period for awhile. My wife was offered this on her last visit, but said no. She thought he was just trying to make more money by giving it to her.
