We have tried Money mailer. It was not a good investment. Would door to door selling be good? We have done flyers. We dont have a lot of money or credit. We need to get creative!

I know this may sound obvious, but do you have bright graphics on the vehicle that you drive? People are always looking around while at a stop light. Do you have a catchy name and tag line? You want that name to stick in consumers heads. Have you left business cards in areas of interest?

Put yourself in the consumer’s seat. Where would you go if you wanted to find a carpet cleaning service? And what attracts you to certain business’s over others. Is it fast service? Special offers? Free gifts? Coupons? Guarantees?

Word of mouth is the best advertising. So also think about what is going to be your point of difference? What is it about your company that makes me want to pick it over anyone else?

Good luck. I too, am starting my own cleaning business, and am going to face these same issues. But I have been in advertising for the last 11 years!

I'm pretty sure kickbacks are illegal...

As far as advertising, I would go with Yellow Pages, Do a farm mail out (your whole area) using the previous site that was cited, Join your local chamber of commerce and build rapport with members, advertise on your personal cars (check with your accountant, but in some cases you might be able to get some kind of write off from this)...

All of this would help build brand awareness. The more people that you can build a positive relationship with, the more positive the word of mouth about your company. After all of this, you should be able to make a good living off referrals alone...

Another thing that might work would be to do an insert in your local newspapers sunday edition offering your service at a discount rate when presenting said insert. There are so many small budget things you can do to better your business.. Consistency is key...

This would depend a lot on your area. The yellow pages is the best advertisement I have found. You can also be in the yellow pages on line. Mail outs are good, try quantummail.com
also maybe flyers at the local stores and stuff. Try going to larger companies like hotels and real estate places personally.

Direct Response Flyers or Self Liquidating Display Ads.
These offer a special offer that makes you money on the front end and then allows you to sell your package on the backend with upsells and upgrades and membership packs.

well i am currently attending one of the best colleges for my associates degree in advertising and marketing, and my professer is well known, but if you want to get alot of peoples attention to call you guys when they need carpet cleaning try some of the following, offer free items (e.g. air fresheners, coupons, stcikers ect.) make colorful advertising posters (e.g. bright colors, bold letters, eye catching pictures, catchy slogans ect.) offer good deals (e.g. We clean your carpets one time, next time you get 30% off ect.) Make a commercial now this is the best way to get traffic for your business, Fromers states that every business that has a commercial gets 85% more customers then those who dont, now commercials usually vary in price by lenght (e.g. a 45 second long commercial would run you about $350. Not bad considering that you would get 85% more customers then usual. If your gonna make a commercial make sure that it is neat and well thought out (e.g. Make the letters on the commercial bold and creative, use catchy slogans, and mention every one of your states (e.g. tell them about their free air fresheners if they come to you and so on) I hope this helps.

door to door demo's and face to face so that people will be able to see what you do. Rejection is all a part of it but its all a numbers game. Remember that and take some sales classes if you don't know how to sell. Read a few books. Remember have lots of energy and enthusiasm and you'll get business on accident. by: Mike Ferry. :)

Get a website! :) at least 75% of your sales WILL come from the internet, everyone uses it these days. Try www.BitTraffic.com, they have really cheap prices, and 24/7 customer support, and they'll help you build & promote your site. you can get a domain like yourbussinessname.com for less than $10 a year! Try it out, you wont regret it.

A friend of mine is launching a new business card display called "Spin and Save". Depending on where you are, you might want to get into his display or trade services. I know Brian is looking for reps along the Atlantic seaboard.

Details are on his website - adscapz.local4all.com
