If you do some research into it, you will find that many cultures have a noah's ark type story. An article I read several years ago told of a group of scientists who had traced it back to a glacier (or other massive ice structure) melting in the black sea, causing a dramatic rise of water over a short time. Their theory was that the inhabitants of that area fled and shared their version of the event with future generations. Of course, at that time, any naturally occuring event was regarded as being sent by the gods, and that is why we have those stories.

Science has never proven the story of Noah's Ark to be false, or even true for that matter. The Emporer, during the time of the birth of Jesus, taxed the "world". Understandably, he was taxing the Roman "world", not the whole inhabited planet. Science has found proof of an actual flood in the area specified in the bible, and is now trying to prove the extent of this flood. It is true that faith plays a major role in the belief of this particular story, but it also brings about the questions as to what limitations one believes his "God" to have. Science has proved many people and accurances to be true. Let our faith not waiver because the scientific mind of mere mortals can't answer every question the bible might pose. Let us also remember, the important part of the bible to be remembered is that of learning how to deal with one another as intelligent people. Even if the story of Noah's Ark was found to be false, does that give me license to treat my fellow man sub-human?

albert einstein is often quoted as saying that "only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
but a quite a lot of otherwise perfectly sensible people will not only staunchly defend the ark story, but go on to invent the most extraordinarily complicated and imaginative explanations of just how it was that noah managed to not only collect polar bears from the arctic, penguins from the antarctic, koalas from australia, venomous climbing tree frogs from south america, pandas from china, manage to keep them all alive for 40 days and 40 nights and then put them all back again afterwards.
so perhaps logic and reason are just overrated as evolutionary advantageous qualities? after all 99.999% or some equally enormous number of all living species seem to do perfectly well without them.
whats that old saying? ignorance is bliss?
maybe.

To most lay persons the idea of a time portal is way beyond their comprehension. Maybe Noah lost the directions. If with God all things are possible why do we still have people that are A**holes since the flood? If we watch enough Star Gate and Star Trek we can pretty much get the idea that many things are really just science fiction, special effects and highly misconstrued. Of course it may have just been a weather balloon?

Actually, there are several accounts of "Noah and the ark" in several different religions, confirming the story. Archaeological findings of flood deposits and so forth, and of course the siting of the Ark. ( Here's a question for you: Do you think the ark was a ship? Or was it a box? Hmmmmm.....)

You are mistaken. There is scientific evidence of a universal flood, there are numerous folk legends about the saving of man and animals (including among SW American Indians). You are either not reading the research, or are throwing out misinformation to bait the Jews.

In every myth or legend or bible story there is a small grain of truth.

Troy was thought to be a myth until it was found.

The caves and tunnels under Jerusalem used for invasion were thought to be a myth until they were found.

The great flood was thought to be pure fiction (by scientists) unto they discovered the history of the Black Sea and the "great flood."

Before you discount any kind of legend or myth or bible story, consider that their might be a small grain of truth to it and look for that. Do not just discount a story because it got exaggerated through the years.

Why does it bother you that people believe in something? Science has not proven it isn't true & the ark has actually been found on top of a mountain just like the Bible says.
