RED SOX. You know it really isn't fair the way the Yankees get to have a payroll twice as much as the next team on the list. They can go out and buy pretty much whatever players they want. They can spend what the Kansas City Royals' entire payroll is on one player. That is really the only reason they are always in the mix for a playoff spot year after year. The funny thing is, is they still can't win a world series. At least not in the last few years. If you put a salary cap in baseball, the Yankees will not have a lineup of All-stars (and they won't have their pitching staff of overpaid worthless pitchers) they will have a few good players like any other team.

You are probably thinking the Red Sox have a high payroll as well, but it is not nearly as much as the Yankees. If each team had an equal payroll, I think more players would want to sign with the BoSox just for the fact that the Yankees are the hated team in baseball and their is a lot less pressure for the players to play the game at a high level.

To me, a lot of times, it looks like playing on the Yankees isn't fun. It is just strictly business. With other teams including the Red Sox their is a combination of fun and business.

One thing that has hurt the Yankees is them going out and spending bunches of money who turned out to be worthless. There agressive buying has hurt them. It is just fun to watch the Yankees make mistakes like that and make them realize that you can't buy world championships.

As one Yankee fan challenged, lets do the math: Schilling, Beckett, Dice-K, Papelbon, Wakefield, with Snyder and maybe Clement in the bullpen, and Tavares, Hansen, Donnelly, Romero and Timlin in the Red Sox bullpen.
Pettite, Mussina, Wang, Pavano, Igawa as starters (assuming the Unit is back in Arizona) with Procter, Farnsworth, Rivera and about 5 slices of corned beef in the Yankee bullpen.
Assuming both teams know how to hit the ball, the battle will be fought on the mound. The Red Sox starting rotation is on balance younger and stronger. Both of the new Japanese pitchers are unknowns, Pettite and Mussina and Schilling and Wakefield are not kids. Wang and Beckett are young and strong. Papelbon is a potential 20 game winner. Pavano is the Red Sox ideal of an opposing pitcher. I think they batted around twice on him in one inning in June, 2003. On the other hand, Rivera is unequalled by anyone the Red Sox have or are likely to have. It will be 10-9 over the course of the season. Your pick.

Since one answer mentioned "start spreading the news", the Red Sox have it musically over the Yankees with 1) Sweet Caroline, 2) Dirty Water, 3) Tessie and 4) Joy to the World (Jeremiah was a bullfrog) over Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland (can you get gayer?). How do you stack Judy Garland against the Dropkick Murphys?

Of course it's the Red Sox! Don't question my authority!

The Yankees may have won the World Series 26 times, but NONE this century.

Neither, but if I had to choose, Red Sox, just because I hate the Yankees.

I don't like either one of them, but if I were to hold my nose and choose one it'd have to be the Red Sox. I especially don't like King George. Both teams go out and try to out-spend one another and force other teams who don't have that much revenue to suffer. That's why alot of average players are getting multi-million dollar contracts and who haven't had a consistent history of playing even average baseball.

I hope they both fall flat on their faces, but for the sake of your question I'll say Sox.

NOT AGAIN oh, alright I can't resist. The Red Sox. And they do have great music as was mentioned. So go Red Sox and go Dropkick Murphy's Tessie.
