What would you call a Golden Retriever or English Bulldog?

You did not indicate if the animals are male or female, so I will offer suggestions for both.
For a Golden Retriever, you might want a short, simple name that can be used in field training. Max, Roy, Rex or Sam would work well for a male and I like Katy for a female.
English bulldogs remind me of Winston Churchill. Winston or Winnie would be very nice.

The golden lab, I'd call him "Noodles".

i would call the english bulldog furnica, which is ant in romanian. and the golden ..... hmm, perhaps bugs
