I think a vacuum cleaner using the hose with a soft brush on it would get any dust away. As far as things like mother-of-pearl I would hesitate to use anything other than water (with maybe a speck of mild soap) on them. And dry any wet parts with a soft towel.

I would use gasoline- it wouldn't really be cleaning as much as burning it
