Just like with any product, it's a matter of supply and demand. Since demand is incredibly high and supply is so low, it's doubtful that sales have been affected in any way, since the units would have undoubtedly been sold, with or without those purchasing with the intent to resell at auction.

People would still buy them to re-sell,but they would be put in a paper's classifieds for a slightly increased price in comparison to the retail value.

They would still fly off the shelves they would just go to people who actually wanted to play them.
