I gave up trying to get it working and just purchased a new graphics card. there has been so many people on different sites with the same problems and no fix has been provided that works.

i tried for about 3 months before i gave up posted on about 20 web forum sites across the world loads of people had the same problem and no one could fix the problem.

the card i had (only about 12 months old) was meant to be compatible but was not, changed it all sorted no problems.

i tried all sorts of drivers none fixed the problem.

windows kept telling me that all was OK not one system faults

Acer aspire 5601 has an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 chip.
That chip supports DirectX 9.0c
