It depends who you're inviting... are they gamer geeks? More jock types? The buy-new-clothes-everyday type?
I'd nix the mind altering substances, in any case. People can get really screwed up, and you don't want to have it on your conscience that it was at your party that someone got screwed up enough to get pregnant/hurt/die/kill someone.
Not to mention that getting those things are expensive. Or illegal.

If you are close by, beach parties work nicely... nix the beer tho. The last thing your parent or any parent needs is the police showing up to a very cool party and there is alcohol being served or provided to minors. The parent in charge will face criminal charges for providing alcohol to minors. Besides, if you can't have fun without beer, then you are not very creative!!! Make sure there is music, lots of snacks and drinks (again, non-alcoholic) and invite different sorts of people... not just your close friends... invite the entire class... make sure they all feel welcomed!!

Make sure it's outdoors (easier clean-up), has alot of beer, and outdoor parties gotta have a bon-fire. Just make sure that someone has a cool parent to supervise and hold the keys.

have it outside where it wont disturb no one and have parents there dont have any alcohlol like the other guy(s) say u can get into trouble but have plenty of food and pop
