every kid is different. Crying a lot is called colic, and it's usually temporary.

People's answers to this question probably wont mean a whole heck of a lot; since each child is different and has their own temperment. Some babies at 4 months might cry once a day, and another might cry 15.
My daughter at around 4 months probably cried 3-7 times from waking in the morning until bedtime, but not for great lengths of time.

My first baby cried a lot during his first year. He had problems with colic and was often constipated. He also got sick a lot, and I spent several nights in the emergency room with him.
My second baby hardly cried at all. He slept well, ate well and was generally relaxed and content.
I stopped breast-feeding my first child after 2 weeks because I had strep throat and Doctors told me I should. Later, I learned that it wasn't necessary to stop breast feeding, and I breast-fed my second baby until 8 months.
I was a nervous first mother, always afraid of doing something wrong, and I think my emotional vibes contributed to my child's nerves.
The second time around, I was much more relaxed.

All babies are different. My kids cried the most at about that age. They were getting older, and got bored real easy. They weren't ready to crawl yet, or even sit up alone. But, they got bored just laying there looking around.

Mine is 3 and half mo and it seemed she was crying nonstop for first 3 mo. And no, she did not have colic, doctor said she's just high maintnance baby, very hard to please. :-( Now she's getting little better, but just a little, really. She still cries for about 50% of her wake period...... good luck to you.
