i'm mexican born here, i got chinese, black, arab, polish friends all born here.... but if we were all lined up most ppl would say that the polish and black guy were americans.... maybe not even the black guy...lol

most ppl dont walk around asking for ure ctizenship......and not all black ppl are americans....silly girl .....its like me saying all white ppl are americans....u cant tell....ane i do consider my self mecican even though i was born here and i'm sure other ethnic groups do too

I find it interesting that South Americans and Central Americans and Canadians are not even considered in this question. If you're American, it doesn't mean you're "United States", does it? How self-centered are we all?
I would say that you are American and also hispanic. One is a national association, one is race-based. American of Polish descent, African-American. All of these terms identify both your current affiliation and your heritage. I think it makes us all more interesting, and I'm sorry that it is used to segregate.

All you list above are citizens of the USA as are NATURALIZED citizens. As for the broader meaning "Americans" could include anyone in the Western Hemisphere or all of North AND South America.

What the hell are you talking about? "Most Americans" would say that your an American if you are a citizen. I've never met anyone who would say a black guy is not American
