Hi, depending on your age - you might be able to see a doctor without parental concent. Check with your local Planned Parenthood. Their fees are based on your income, so if you have a job be sure to bring your most recent pay stub. Regarding you skipping your period - that could be due to many causes. If you are not on birth control and are having unsafe sex than pregnancy is probably the reason. But also be aware that there are other reasons such as stress, change in weather, or change in your hormones. When I was 14 I skipped a period once, it was right around beginning of school and my period never came. The next month was normal ( as always). A way to ask your mom about seeing a doctor is to tell her that you think you should start going to the "girl" doctor and would like her to make an appointment for you. Another option is to tell her that you have a question for the doctor and you don't feel comfortable asking her. Good luck.

Well I am not sure how old you are or if you have had sex before so... Here is a couple suggestions depending on the situation.

1. You are a virgin and no period for a month just tell your mom no big deal. It happens to a lot of young ladies.

2. You have had sex before and no period. If you are old enough to drive or have friends with a car go to a store ( not one where people know you by first name of course) and buy a preg. test. Take it a rest stop or a friends house (not yours) And if it is positive then you NEED to tell your mother. I know that some people on here will tell you that you don't have to and that you could even get an abortion without your parent(s) knowing but trust me honey you don't want to go through all of this alone. You parents will most likely be upset but they will stop being mad and be there for you. Just like when you make them upset any other time.

But take the test first, you don't want to have your parent(s) upset over nothing. And yourself for that matter.

Good luck
let us know how it goes.

Missing a period ca be normal if you have just started your periods recently, as it takes many months to get regulated. If that's not the case and you have had sex, then it's possible you are pregnant. In either situation you may want to tell your Mom. Worrying about not having a period can actually sometimes delay it.

Just tell her. She is your mother and all she would want is for you to be okay. Don't wait any longer than you should! But missing periods happen all of the time. Changing your diet and exercise can be one reason why. Just talk to your mom and she will give you advice on what to do. then go from there. Good Luck!

Only you know if there's a chance you've missed your period because of pregnancy. If so, I can understand your reluctance but you must tell her and face the consequences. If you are not sexually active, you have nothing to fear by telling her. In either case, you must tell her. If it's any comfort to you, pregnancy isn't the only reason for a missed or late period.

Oh boy. I would just come out and tell her that you missed your period. I told my mom, because I was on birth control and I needed to know whether or not I need to stop taking them. Ends up I was pregnant, I'm now 8 months :) So, you need to tell her, the easiest way is just to come out and say it. Don't be scared.

Tell her that you would like to have a regular check up and if she can schedule an appointment for you and when you have your appointment tell the doctor that you've missed your period and ask for a pregnancy test. Patient Privacy (depending on your age)

I don't know what your relationship with your mom is like, but if it's fairly decent then hopefully she will want to help you and support you. I think most moms would in this situation. If you don't feel comfortable telling her, you can go to the drugstore and buy a home pregnancy test on your own. I don't know where you live, but if you have a Planned Parenthood or other clinic near you, you can go there without your parents' permission or knowledge and they will help you and give you lots of information. Good luck!

if you have only missed one period you do not need to see a doctor. Many times women skip a period due to stress or illness or whatever. If you think you might be pregnant then you do need to see a doc but otherwise just chalk it up to stress or the holidays and wait to see what happens.

Try not to stress out too much - missing one is not that big of a deal, many women will miss the occasional one over their lifetime. If it happens again then go see a doctor.
