Have you even seen the new Rocky? See it first. Believe me, Rocky V will make better sense after seeing Rocky Balboa.

Rocky V he tried to go back to the character of Rocky, rather than the superficial glitzy films full of fight scenes. It didn't work, especially cause of the doofus who played Tommy Gunn. It was a bad last sequel to a series that started out so great.

Rocky Balboa (Rocky VI) is back to the basics, back to the character and a more human look at where Rocky is now and what he needs to prove to himself. More dialogue and we actually see Stallone here as an acotr, not just someone spouting sounds bites between boxing matches and training sessions. It takes probably an hour into the movie before he really decides to get back into boxing.

Stallone's own wife tried to stop him and tell him he would be laughed at and embarrassed. He said the pain of regret would be worse than the pain of embarrassment.

Stallone is said to have wanted closure for this property he created. Rocky was his baby. The same source also says he had a big plan for the script the backers and studio vetoed. I have to wonder if he felt like "why bother?" without this special thing for the film he had in mind.

Ah well. It isn't a bad film, and this is from one who thought almost all the Rockys weren't worth watching.

It was best thng he could have done. He was unhappy how people always came up to him and said that Rocky 5 was disapointing and let down the saga.

He has taken this one back to the roots, its a story as well as a boxing movie. There's a hidden message in there that will wake you up, and make you realise something important.

Watch the movie. I did think the same way as you did before watching the film, but Im glad I've seen it now.

Happy new year.

Actually, while I didn't particularly like rocky V, it was a necessary movie to be made, rocky IV was not.

It was a stupid movie that promoted unrealistic training ideas about a sport that people have ready access to. It was pure crap- cold war propoganda.

VI should never have been made even more.

The whole series showed rocky's evolution as a fighter and left his story in rocky V the way most fighters end up- penniless.

It made a statement. It was a good dramatic turnaround and made sense, rocky VI is going to be one of the dumbest movies ever made.

Stallone need $$. (source: Sly)
Rocky has reproduced in more ways than one, or II. Now, we can look forward to "Son of Rocky", oh no.

Yes, it brought closure to the movies if you saw the latest one. I agree Rocky V should have never been made.

Stallone needed to pay the rent.

I agree. I've never seen any of the Rocky's actually, I hate boxing, but whatever, I still think they should've not.
