We married in Belfast in 1985, a year later he went to live in Gosport were he had obtained work in Sweetheart factory. I have not seen him or had any contact with him since then September 1986. His name is Douglas (Danny) Gonzalez and he came from Tenerife. I have written to the last family address I had for Tenerife but I have had no replies. This is making it difficult for me to arrange a divorce without having to pay out a fortune to have him traced. Any one any ideas or anyone who might have had contact with Danny over the years?

You can fill something that is similar to a missing or abandonment divorce. You have to publically announce your intentions and after about 90 days, you can file the paperwork and things should go forward from then.

you dont say where you are form, but where I am from, if someone wants a divorce and has not been in contact or ale to get in contact with the spouse, then you need to go to the County in which you were married, file papers and run an add in the local newspaper asking for a "reply" within 30 or 60days from the time the notice came out in the paper-if you donot get a reply within that time frame then you are granted the divorce and another add is put in the paper for the notification. You will probably want to call the courthouse and find out what is required of you concerning this matter.

due to the long period of time you should be able to get a divorce on the grounds of desertion. you have made an effort to locate him and family. I know that in Oklahoma, you can file for divorce and if you do not know your spouse's whereabouts you can place an ad in the paper and let in run for a specified period of time and if he doesn't respond to it than you can be granted a divorce. I believe that most states have laws that are similar to this.

this should not be a problem whatsoever as you have not been in contact for all these years!
it will be fairly straight foreward he wont even get to contest it or have a say in it at all!
it will be done in his absence!
don't worry!
