wondering, b/c whenever i go to guitarcenter or sam ash or any other music store, people look at me as if im in the wrong place. The same looks happen when i buy a slayer shirt, or metal album.
I love buying system of a down stuff though, 'cause soad and i have the same heritage.

yes, and hendrix played too, and tom morello too, and system of a down too.
but the fact remains, i dont get treated like a metal-head; therefore, im a double-outsider...jk....
its just that people are surprised when i tell them im a musician

trust me, armenians are not considered to be heavy metal musicians. Thank goodness System of a Down changed that!

When you think of the best musicians in popular music mostly all were non-white.
Next time you are in the store ask if James Jamerson would get a look for buying a bass. Ask who brought the drum to the world and they will answer Africa.
You only have to look at the last century and the greatest musicians were mostly all black. Don't worry about these store staff, they are too ignorant.

I think it's great you like a different genre music. It's not so typical, and it makes you unique. I'm Black, Portuguese, Spanish, and also in my early twenties. I love all kinds of music, rhythm and blues, Hawaiian, country, rock, oldies, even foreign stuff. That just makes you twice as cool as the other people who are into metal. Your a double whammy.

no def not but there is still some prejudice towards people of color playing rock or metal music. its just the way it is kinda like how everyone was shocked when tiger woods came on the golfing scene when golf was seen as a white mans sport. people just need to be more open minded.

Music is universal, why should ethnicity be an issue.....being a Metal fan myself it seems strange and I can't understand why they're treating you this way. If they're bugging you hon go to a different music store.....
