The person who initiated the break up will move on faster. If you are the one who suggests and/or initatites the break up, YOU are already mentally prepared to be on your own. It's the person who is blindsided who has a harder time dealing with it because most of the time, they didn't see it coming. Being a man or a woman doesn't matter.

I'm not so sure it's a gender thing. Statistics may show that men may seem to move on faster, but that could easily be because they don't know how to deal with the pain of a break-up (if they were really into the girl) which would make them "move on" regardless of how they are still feeling from the break-up.
I think it just depends on whether or not your were in love with that person.

Most of the time the guy seems to get over it faster but only in public he will find someone new or just go out with his friends a lot and have a good time to show everyone he is ok but inside he probably is not going to be over the girl if he really loved her very fast, he just plays it off like he is.

I think it is equal however......The female with find true love and happiness faster than the man. Men can go out and get laid but have no emotional ties with the woman. Doesn't mean hes moved on faster. Woman move on but they want the emotional love as well as the physical. So I think women will be happier faster.

I think it really depends on the circumstances. After dating a guy for 3 years I spent the last six months of our relationship telling him I was unhappy and he always answered when two people are in love they find a way to work through it. And to him that response was the fix-all. After six months of trying to make it work, I was already over the relationship and ready to move on. He acted devastated like this was the first he heard I was unhappy. Men or women just move at their own pace I don't think it's a guy/girl trait.

I dont think this is an either-or question. It depends on how attached people are. Each relationship is different. Sometimes the guy loves the girl more and has problems getting over it and sometimes the girl loves the guy more and has the problem. You cant divide all men and women and say one has more problems then the other. Its about who each person is and how they react to things.

I think for the most part girls take longer because they put more weight into the relationship to begin with. Although Im probably the exception to the rule because at my age I dont really expect too much from any 'relationship' - I dont go around stupidly thinking they're the one - I wouldnt want them to be. But I know most of my friends who are girls are wayyy the opposite thinking they're sooo in love and being crushed when it ends.

In most cases it is the Girl. The man may date first, but the woman is the one who gets over it and moves on in most cases.
Women love deeper and with more passion. Men carry the torch much longer. When a women is through with you she moves on and doesn't look back.
