i have a product to put out on market, its an old recipe i have from my ancesters and would like to get it going on a patton and don't know where to start?

First of all, its a patent, not a patton. Secondly, a recipe isn't an invention. You can possibly have it trademarked, tho. Look up the trademark administration and read the rules.

I hate to tell you but you can't get a patient on a recipe. You would have to genetically create a food source in order to patient it not a way of preparing an existent food. How ever you can copy-write it if it hasn't been already. After all there are only so many ways to prepare food.
