I have one of the really old ones, i think maybe even the first ones to come out with the 4 buttons on top and the wheel except there not buttons. they don't push in, more like touch sensitive - anyways: i charge it and it will charge and say its full but when im using it the battery shows about a 1/4 maybe a little bit more of life and it will die and stay dead... i know its old and the battery is prob dying but can i replace it?? i mean why not right?

You can do it yourself but it is very difficult. Apple will replace it for you but it's like 70 dollars. Search on the web for ipod battery replacement and you will find a lot of info on replacing it yourself or sending it in.
