What exercises/dieting can I do to support the burning of fat? Nothing crazy, I want to do things right. I'm not into crash-dieting or exercising until I could die while only eating grapefruits or anything like that. The last time I did it the old-fashioned way I went from 198lbs to 130lbs in 6 months. But that was swimming, and in the winter swimming is out of the question. Lifting, walking, anything?

I would suggest a combination of weight training and cardio. When lifting weights use light weights and high reps (15 reps and above). Your cardio can consist of running, walking, treadmill, eliptical machine, bike, swimming, basketball, or even yard work. Do your cardio for at least 20-30 minutes. But, all the weight training and the cardio in the world won't help you without a good sound eating plan. You stated in your question that at one time you went from 198lbs. to 130lbs. in 6 months; so it seems like you know what you are doing. You can get more tips by reading womens fitness magazines, such as Womens Health, Muscle & Fitness for Her, and Shape. Good luck to you.

If you want to lose actual fat, lifting is not going to help you. You need to do cardio in order to burn fat. Walking and/or running are what I've found to work the best. It's hard in the winter (depending on where you live) to get up the motivation but if you're determined to do it, than you'll make yourself get out there. I would suggest trying to walk or run for at least 30 mins a day or as often as you can. You'll obviously have to adjust your food intake too- fresh veggies, fruit, whole grains, lean meats. Try not to eat 2 hours before you go to bed. Once you've lost the fat you want to lose you can start incorporating weight training into your routine to tone up. However, weight training before losing weight will just put a layer of muscle over a layer of fat and add more bulk. Good luck!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Cardio is great while you're doing it, but don't forget to add strength training. By increasing muscle mass, you increase the amount of calories burned while at rest (your basal metabolic rate). And don't worry about turning into the she-hulk...those women don't get that way by accident ;-)

Women need to exercise for at least 45 minutes to get the real fat burning going on. Try elipitical, walking, etc.

Excersise 30 minutes - to an hour atleast 3 days a week. And make sure you control your portion sizes, because it's not what you eat, it's how much.

Cardio. Run, walk, join a gym.

Eat healthy. No junk. Leafy greens are the best. Only eat when you're hungry. Don't eat until you're full. Etc...

You might want to try going on the 1400 calorie diet, it's where you eat no more than 1400 calories a day. You also limit your intake of saturated fat.

weight lifting is the best way to burn fat. The more muscles you have the more fat you burn. Walking is also good when paired with it.

to burn fat you need to do cardio, at least 20-30 minutes. you need to keep your heart rate higher than normal (of course not too high). getting your heart rate in that "zone" is where you really start to burn fat. swimming is actual one of the best cardio exercises you can do because it is low-impact on the joints, offers resistance, and is a total body workout.
