3m 15" touch screen trying to use a universal power adaptor that runs 12v 500ma max. Screen needs 12v 2.0a. Screen stays black. power led is on.

Is this due to the amperes? I thought running higher would be okay, but running under would not

you are running the correct voltage but not the correct amps...

500 ma (milliamps) is 1/4th of 2a or .5
you need four times the amps you have now. i do not agree that higher is ok, use the right power supply. its good for long term health too.

Volts = electrical pressure
Amps = electrical flowrate

Would the wrong flowrate be a good thing or a bad thing?

500 ma is NOT greater than 2.0 Amps.

500 ma is 0.5 Amps
