Yes, and that is why he was never elected as president! He got a bad rap for falling down stairs to aircraft!
Nixon should have been impeached in abstentia, which is not criminal, and perhaps the taxpayers would not have had to support the 2nd worst US president!

Remember when Sandy Berger stole & destroyed classified documents that might have caused Clinton to be charged with treason over 9/11?
Everyone should check and see what Nixon did wrong. He was small fry as compared to all the corrupted things Clinton did.

No- but I have read about it. It was done to reunite the country. It might not have been a popular decision but the debating and such that would have waged on with a trial etc. would have caused many of the other issues of the day to be underlooked. With Vietnam and other domestic issues it was important to turn the page on this black eye of US government. I think he did the best he could with an ugly situation.
