It was obviously just given to Ford. Spiro Agnew had to resign as Nixons Vice President because Agnew was proven to be a crook. The Repubs sent Ford to be Nixon's (another proven crook) sidekick, and then Nixon was forced to resign and allow Ford to be shamefully given the Presidencey. Republicans have no decency nor to thei day do they honor the pride of the White House.

No. That boastful dufus, Lyndon Johnson, had surgical operation as President and have been given traumatic approximately it. He have been given by Congress and by 38 states a constitutional modification changing the succession of the Presidency. below the recent rules, if the Vice Presidency is vacant, the PRESIDENT nominates a candidate and the Congress approves it, so which you get an unelected vp. (till now 1967, the vice presidency stayed vacant till the subsequent 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days election). Lo and behold, in 1973, a crooked vp, Spiro Agnew, resigned. What to do? Nixon asked pals in Congress who would be basic to verify? "Gerald Ford." Nixon nominated Ford (abode minority chief on the time), Congress approved, Nixon resigned from Watergate and we've been given an unelected President who pardoned Nixon and replaced into fired 2 years later through the standard public. Ford floated to the precise like a turd in a cesspool. yet another triumph for the regulation of unintended effects for fiddling with the form.

He was Selected to Replace Spiro Agnew as VP by Nixon and then when Nixon Resigned he became President for about 2 1/2 years. He pretty much lost his only election because he Pardoned Nixon in the Watergate Scandal and people didn't like it. Carter became President (UGH, how was that a better choice) and he did more good work since then, than he did while he was actually President.
James Brown, an American Icon and Legend, did wonders for the music industry and for Black Entertainers, whom without James Brown, may never have had those dance moves or opportunites (ie, Michael Jackson, Prince) without him.
That being said he had personal issues... that would not have made him a model citizen.

No I don't agree. Gerald Ford was the last honest president that the US has had. James Brown was a musician who felt good. Look at what his family is doing to his ex-wife. Gerald Ford's family are honorable and his wife's legacy is recovery and his family legacy is honesty. James Brown's legacy is one good song, jail-time, a piss-poor steak house in Augusta and a family who is willing to let his life be stolen by that Media-whore Al Sharpton
Gerald Ford earned the presidency, he was appointed vice-president and approved by a democratic congress.Remember?
Gerald Ford was the Greatest President in my lifetime and I hope he is remembered that way by others, I'm sure history will remember him favorably!

First of all they are both dead so let's let the dead rest, to answer your question no I don't think James Brown made the world a better place he was a wife beating drug adict who belonged in jail. Gerald Ford gave Nixon a pardon but Nixon was never convicted of anything and he did it to try to heal a divided country.

No, I think Gerald Ford, even though never elected, made the world a better place! He was well liked!
James Brown made his own contributions to his art form, but was not a nice person at times! I know he spent time in my state's prison!

I tried really hard, and I can see no logic to your comparison.
James Brown was a great singer, his private life was anything but.
Ford on the other hand respected the title given him and was the last one to honor the White House before a string of president who took office used it as a brothel to be rented out to the highest bidder.
He was the only president to not be officially elected, yet never let that stop him from doing what needed to be done. He mended a country that had just gone through a massive set back with the loss of a war and the nations first view of a crooked president. In fact, Ford was in reality the last of the real bi-partisan presidents and should be honored as one of America's greatest.

It was a reward for being good and loyal party "soldier." He was also the only national Republican figure the party could find that was so bland and inoffensive that he could get away with the pardon without too much outcry. Hating Ford for the pardon would have been something like hating a puppy for making a mess on the carpet.

Gerald Ford was not voted in as president.
He only stepped in and took Nixon's place when the Republicans were so corrupt that they gave America a crook for president.
His wife was such a lush and went to get dried out so many times they finally named the rehab. clinic after her.

I'm not sure that you can compare the two.
James Brown was a music pioneer, but his personal life was a shambles.
Ford was thrust into the Presidency and did pretty well under the circumstances. When he lost to Carter, he treated the Office of President with respect (as opposed to those who came after him who used it as a platform to push their own causes. See Carter, Clinton, and Gore).
