trying to order some shoes off line and the measurements is based off of men sizes

6 1/2, there is a 1 1/2 size difference between mens and womens shoes. So, 7 mens= 8 1/2 womens
6 mens= 7 1/2 womens

You would need a Mens shoe size one to two sizes smaller than your normal woman's size. Men's feet are generally wider for any given length, so you may have to take that into consideration too.
Maybe you should run to the nearest shoe store and try a few pairs of guy shoes on. If they have one of those foot measuring things you could see exactly what men's size shoe you would wear.

so you probably wear a 9 or 9 1/2 in mens...it's usually 1 to 1 1/2 size bigger.

8 women's = 6 men's.
