you work with people who you have absolutely nothing in common with??
Someone at work just asked me what I was drinking. It was HERBAL TEA! Then they just asked me what ORGANIC food was and why I didn't just eat like NORMAL people. (I live in a small town in Arkansas right now.) They make fun of me because I don't know about really expensive jeans, sunglasses, phones etc...
What gives? Should I give in to the shallow American culture to fit in? I think not...
I can't think like these people, but I have to work with them...

How would you handle this if you were me?

The ages range from about 20-26...

How old are these people? They sound like children and probably aren't worth your time. Don't give in, none of that s/hit matters anyway...

educate them on their ignorance... nah. Just smile and nod. They can't help themselves. Try to be understanding, and most of all don't let them get to you and be yourself. People worth spending your time on will appreciate you for you.
