Was renting a house in CA thru prop mgmt co and moved to VT. Prop Mgmt Co mailed my deposit refund 1 day late (which by law means I am entitled to a full refund?) and deducted extremely unreasonable amounts from my deposit. I left the home same condition than when I moved in, all it required was carpet cleaning and paint (though truthfully the walls were so clean it probably wasn't even painted). The Prop Mgmt Co deducted $920 of a $1500 deposit. The OWNER of the property beleives I should have received a $1225 refund and has since fired them because of a ton of issues that sht has with them. I am now 3000 miles away and don't know how to go about getting the $ back that I am entitled to.

California small claims court is probably your only option. But since you're in VT, its too costly to take it to court.

See if you can get most or all of the rest of the deposit from the owner (after all, the money should have gone to him/her).

My refund would be direct deposited tomarrow besides---straight away into my financial business enterprise account no longer right into a preparers account first-----and my financial business enterprise will credit the account right this moment for that quantity and it would be obtainable for withdrawel a similar day. in case you walk into your financial business enterprise and prepare identity they assist you to withdraw money out of your IRS deposit tomarrow while this is deposited. a minimum of that has been my experiance over the years of having an instantaneous deposit----this is been obtainable a similar right day. some human beings on indexed here are dealing with different banks who're then rerouting their funds to their debts because of the fact they signed up for a reimbursement anticipation loan or something of that nature. which will unquestionably take longer in case you probably did something like that.
