I think this is a great idea and this is why:
1) you will learn ways of listening that will help you when you are a healthcare professional
2) You will start to learn some of the jargon and language as you become exposed to the diagnoses of your clients
3) You will learn how to manage the patients/client: transfers, positioning, range of motion, that kind of thing
4) You will learn interesting things about yourself: Your level of compassion, true interest in healthcare ( it is not as glamorous as some imagine), your ability to handle the stress of caring for the sick (who can be needy, demanding, scary, frustrating, heartbreaking..........), your tolerance, your physical strength, your emotional strengths...
5) It can be flexible in terms of scheduling and hours
6) It can look good on a transcript
Like others have replied, go for the CNA and make sure you are with a reputable company.
I wish you the best of luck in your career!

I worked in home health for a number of years, and it's a good choice if you need a flexible career. Be sure and sign up with a reputable home health agency and be sure to keep very good and accurate records of all you do, including driving time and any expenses that your agency will cover.
I will tell you that you will become emotionally attached to some of your patients, and if they pass away it's really hard. But, if you like caring for people, this is a very rewarding career, and a very needed thing.

Go the next step and get a CNA. A little better pay and opportunity for more challenging work. My niece's husband just completed a training for the CNA that took two weeks. Now he is waiting for the test to be scheduled.
Still, you are going to get stuck with all of the "crap" jobs (pun intended).
