if you are asking if i think its a good idea to video a child being born, i say YES.
i have had the pleasure of being the camera girl for my best friend and my sister when they gave birth to their little girls.
If you plan to tape a birth, keep these important things in mind.
1- NEVER show anyone the tape unless the person who gave birth says its ok. Its something sacred and should never be shown to just anyone.
2- keep the angle of the camera at its most flattering to the person giving birth, i stood side on from my best friend, and it did not show her vagina in the tape at all, but with my sister, i was right in front... and trust me, the tape was ruined. it showed the most graphic and disturbing things. (hemorroids bursting, and all that lovely stuff)
3- respect the person giving birth. if they say "get that camera out of here!!!"... DO IT!
4- try not to tape the screaming too much, this can distress the mother when she watches it.
good luck, and happy video taping!

Yes. A wonderful memory to share with each other and close family members. But do try to be discreet and only video once the baby's head is engaged. The mum wont want to recall the painful hours of contractions. The wonder begins with the first appearance of the baby.

Do you want to make a video of child birth or want to see one? If you are going to make a video of your partners childbirth I would suggest you speak to your midwife as you may need permission from the birthing unit/maternity hospital as this is not usual. If you want a video to watch of childbirth you would be best visiting the NCT website or watch it on one of the Sky maternity channels.

Due to the ability of people to splice video and then use it to bring a law suit against the doctor, nurse or hospital - our hospital no longer allows video cameras in the delivery room. They are not allowed for taking video in the newborn nursery due to privacy concerns about the other babies and their families - have you heard of HIPPA? In the US it drives anyone in the medical field crazy, another basically good idea gone overwhelmingly astray thanks to control-freak fanatics who have nothing to do with patient care.

personally I don't want family and friends looking at my vagina every time that bring up the babies birth and how easy or hard it was. I didn't have anyone there the only camera was a digital and it just got my husband cutting the umbilical and when he was being wrapped up and taken to the NICU.

Not a good idea - how about you start the video once mother and baby are cleaned up.

Bad taste, if you ask me. Most people do not, I repeat, do not care about watching the entire episode.
People like a before- shot- of mother , and an afte-shot of mom and the baby.
