I have a 1994 chevrolet S-10 Blazer w/ a 4.3l Vortex V6 and the fuel pump makes a wicked almost "fire department siren" sound it almost drives you nuts. What would your diagnosis be and should I replace it.

The pumps get pretty noisy when they get worn out. You need to replace it before it gives out. That sound is metal on metal.

Sounds like the fuel pump is no good. You'll have to replaced the whole fuel tank module ( fuel pump and sending unit for the gauge ) as this is the only way the parts are sold. Inspect the inside of your tank for rust a other crap as this could be why the pump is failing to Begin with. Last make sure you replace the fuel filter as again this could be the cause of the whining pump.Good luck and Hope I helped
