As a college player at USC, he had the largest margin of victory ever in the heisman voting, as well as winning the Maxwell award (presented annually to the collegiate American football player adjudged by a panel of sportscasters, sportswriters, and National Collegiate Athletic Association head coaches), and the Walter Camp award (given annually to the collegiate American football player adjudged by a group of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I-A head coaches and sports information directors). He is considered to be one of the greatest collegiate running backs of all time.

As a professional, he was two time player of the year, and a 6 time pro bowler (all star), and inducted into the hall of fame; as well as the NFL 75th Anniversary Team, All-Time Team,1970s All-Decade Team, and the Buffalo Bills WallOfFame.

When he retired he was 6th all time in rushing yards.

I think hes an all time great running back, in the top ten discussion without a doubt, and has an outside shot as top 5 if one had enough passion.

I'm old enough to remember watching O.J. play on TV for USC and the Buffalo Bills...he's one of the best that ever played. The Bills weren't that great while he was with them, but he had a solid career there. The 2,000 yard season back then was a bigger deal than today, as they only played 14 games.

He replaced right into a tremendous decrease back, greater little jukes and fakes than practically absolutely everyone else, good capability for his length( yet can't be while in comparison with E. Smith or T. Thomas in that regard) and although his velocity has grow to be over-ratted (he replaced into speedy in basic terms no longer as speedy as some undergo in suggestions) he did no longer choose for blazing velocity he replaced into speedy and cunning, professional at making could be tacklers omit. I desire larger backs like Earl Campbell or Eric Dickerson yet Simpson nevertheless has to rank between the main suitable backs ever in basic terms in the back of or appropriate there with Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Smith or Dickerson. Like Payton (for many of his profession) he performed with little or no expertise around him, communities keyed on him on each down no rely what the area and he nevertheless post tremendous numbers alongside with a extreme conventional consistent with carry. He did no longer have blazing velocity yet ought to activate a dime throw a juke and had tremendous imaginitive and prescient and instinct. Like no different decrease back till now or after him he appeared to study 15 yards or 2 seconds forward setting up defenders in basic terms like he replaced into interpreting the destiny.

It's too bad that someone so vile and reprehensible can't leave behind a better legacy for his children. To answer your question, yes. But he will never be remembered thus.

he is one of the best, because he made the game exciting. It was fulfilling to watch him play. I know everyone ,who is old enough to remember, used to enjoy watching him on the commercials running thru the airport jumping over mounds of luggage.
