Putting all jokes aside, I was just wondering how accurate your weatherman was. If he was usually pretty right on the money, or if he was usually way off base? Trying to what my weatherman is like compared to the rest of them out there. Ours is usually pretty good, though he likes to save his butt saying 40% chance, etc. but we don't know where that 40% is here in Georgia...is it the same with you?? Thanks ahead of time!!

I've been studying the weather for about 15 years now and I have found that nws.noaa.gov has the most accurate forecast for any given area up to 5 days. There are quite a few here in Indy on TV, but I definitely have a favorite who sometimes goes against what all the other stations and is generally right. You know the good ones from the bad when they can explain WHY things are happening or going to and use different maps than the standard current temps that anybody could read from.

Usually weathermen are decently accurate. It's just when they are wrong that people notice, not all the times when they are right. Also, saying something like 40% chance isn't "saving his butt," it's actually the way to predict precipitation. It's tough to predict weather and there is never a guarenteed forecast. A 40% chance means that given that exact same scenario in that area, 40 times out of 100 times there will be precipitation at a point. So a 40% chance means that where you are, 40% of the time that weather pattern will produce precipitation, rather than 40% of an area will get precipitation. Hope that helped some.

WEll, my weather people here, when some tye of bad wether is forecasted, they straddle the fence saying maybe some flurries or maybe the rumble of thunder because SE Michigan is a nice size landscape and weather can turn out completely differnt in parts of the area. Where as the NWs just gets straight to the facts. Also, they know people want a certain type of weather, so they try to satisfy everyone, as they have a history of being "liars" as they never forecasts a person's forecast of choice all the time.

Then of course, weather folks forecast the weathe in their own way or diffrently from otheres, so............
