not. people are starting to realize that most of the rappers they see are some young little preppy kids from the suburbs just pretending to be hot. The originial rappers (and true gangsters) are older and running business, raising families, etc, and are as far moved from this younger thug image as you can imagine. heck rick ross is one of my favorite rappers and he was a parole officer. IT'S JUST MAKE BELIEVE and people are starting to realize that. i truly hope.

NOT . . . maybe with younger lower class people who don't know any better. Hip-hop is taking a different turn and has many faces, but as for the whole gangsta/thug/pimp/hoe thing being cool, it's not. The artists claim they are keeping it real, but I don't know any black people like that and I live in a large urban city. When I see that crap, I just yawn.

It was never really hot or not. Some people like it, some people don't. I like hip hop, but I know a lot of people that don't. It's just personal preference.

It's not dead it just changed, now they're acting LESS violent, because it was more common for people to be in gangs and act ghetto in the 1990/1980's but since the black middle class is getting larger, we'll be exposed for being fakes. Well, it kinda depends where you live.

A black person from L.A. is more likely to act gangsta, than a black in Seattle

In my opinion it never was hot... but if you are into mainstream society dictating what is hot, then sure it is.
Personally, I think well dressed, well mannered guys with a job, benefits, and home training is hot.

Jeeze, I hope not!

Oh my! My mistake! I hope SO. I'm not crazy about hip hop or rap in general, but that's a matter of taste in music. But the messages of misogyny, soul-less sex, thugs representing themselves as god's gift to women, advocation of violence and hatred, adulation of drugs and criminals - that I despise.
