Hello Cat,
It may be the people doing mundane work are doing so because their lives are so exciting that they need a mundane job to keep them sane?

No I don't think so,as I was a electrical contractor before and I took on a Site agents job in a lower school, and yes it Is a bit repetitive and mundane but the joy I get out of seeing the lovely kids more than justifies the means.

No. some do mundane work to earn a living, mercenary style, saving their energy for their private lives and more challenging pursuits. Having a career, doing what you love, can be fulfilling, and it is for some, but for many it is disappointing because the stress of making a living at it often ruins it.

Not at alll; there is no evidence to support such a statement (or question).
A man can take great pride in being a street sweeper if he so chooses. That doesn't have any bearing on his other hobbies, aspirations, dreams, etc.
I knew a man who had just retired from high structural spray painting (grain elevators, etc.). I don't know if that qualifies as "mundane," but know what his hobby was?
Collecting rare books.

No, I don't think that's true.
Sometimes mundane work is done to fund extraordinary life styles.
I knew a hospital porter who was looked down on by everyone, but he funded and ran his own agricultural museum which was eventually taken over by the county council because of its historical importance.
I prefer to keep my disdain for those who claim to be important, but are in fact mundane in the extreme!

Not necessarily, I think some people can firmly separate their job-life and their personal-life to where they won't interfere with each other.
However, it depends on your personality and if you can differentiate between your job and your personal life. I know that I could NOT make that separation because to me a job is such a personal life-decision, that it would constantly bother me if my job was mundane.
