First check what areas you lack self confidence in. Find someone supportive to encourage you if possible. If not, get a new hairdo, start a new excercise program, learn a new language, join a book club and meet new friends. Change your nickname so all the new people you meet call you by another name. Explain its your nickname, but don't give them your real name for a while. Keep singing (if you know the song) or repeating " they'll be a change in the weather and a change in the sea, and from now on they'll be a change in me - my walk will be different, my talk and my name; nothing about me's gonna be the same; I'm gonna change my way of living and if that's not enough, I'm gonna change the way I strut my stuff. 'Cause nobody wants you when you're old and grey - they'll be some changes made today - they'll be some changes made!

I've done it several times in my life and it lifts me up every time!

I had no self condifidence until I joined the army when I was 26. I am not saying to join the military I am just saying that in basic I realized that there were certain I was going to have to do whether I wanted to or not. So I just did it, turns out the thought of doing something scary was worse than the actual event. A big part of getting my self confidence was accepting the fact that it is okay to make mistakes. Basically when you become afraid just keep pushing forward and face your fear. Chances are you will overcome it and with every victory you will become more and more confident.
Mine was jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I didn't want to do it but then figured what the hell and jumped out of the plane.
It was actually fun, the landing sucked but oh well I wasn't hurt.

Think about why you don't feel self-confident. Then think about all your strengths. Kind of do a balance of your strengths and weaknesses. Are you lacking in self-confidence in certain situations? If so, then figure out how to make those less uncomfortable for yourself.

Everyone has some type of insecurity. We aren't all good at everything.

It all depends on how old you are and what you'd like to be more confident about...

1- If in High School then join a group and make more friends
2- At work then join toastmasters group to help you speak in public and be around other people
3- Finally you may want to look into a life coach that may be able to help you with role simulations

First, praise yourself for things already accomplished. A lot of us tend to focus on the negative yet to be conquered and forget the positive things we've done.

Second, get to know yourself. Find out which things you love and which things you may not like so much.

I hope 2007 is great for you.

Another one...Remove the ego, people don't pay attention nearly as much as we think they do...

Believe in yourself. you are far more intelligent and wise than you think.
The very idea that you are asking this shows that you have the capability.
Most people stumble through life not asking a question like this.
