I would like to rent an RV to drive across the country and the one I would like to rent is a Class A Rental. I was wondering if I need a different drivers license, how long or what it takes to get one, if I need it. I am planning on renting it next month. I am in Texas.

It is not the same for all the states. I can only speak for Texas. If the weight is over 26,000 pounds then you need a Class B non-commercial license. However, I assume we have reciprocity with other states so assume the law applies to Texas residents only. I have also heard that the law is not enforced unless you are in a wreck.

Class C is good unless the rental place requires a class B commercial then a physical and testing at the DMV

My class A has only one rear axle, so I;m OK with just a regular license. I THINK (not absolutely sure) a special license is required if there are two rear axles.

if it is a big rv then you would need a commercial drivers license same as if you were driving a tractor-trailer rig
