I don't judge people with tattoos...who am I to judge anyone? But on a personal level, I don't find them attractive.

Unfortunately, in our society, many people judge others based upon preconceived notions and stereotypes. In the past, individuals with tattoos were associated with negative images and stereotypes, and changing everyone's beliefs/opinions is a difficult thing to do. So although tattoos are becoming more "mainstream" and common, there are still alot of people out there who look down on people with tattoos as, like you say, trailer trash, tramps, criminals, etc. These close-minded people feel very righteous in their beliefs, and it's hard to convince them to see things differently. Personally, I find it sadly funny and annoying at the same time that these people get so hot under the collar about issues that have absolutely no effect on their lives whatsoever. This is a free society, though, and everyone is allowed to think and believe whatever they want; it is just unfortunate that some feel they need to impose their personal standards on everyone else as well. On the bright side, I find that people who are proud to have their tattoos are independent, confident people who are not bothered by what others may think of their tattoos. After all, they didn't get them for other people, but for themselves.

I have a strong negative opinion about tattoos. I'm 56 so not likely to change, although I have dear friend who has loads of them on her arms and neck. When I was a child and young woman, a tattooed woman was considered trashy, slutty, indifferent to the mores of society, and unlikely to improve her station in life. That last part holds true today. I've seen many qualified people not hired or not promoted because of tattoos. Companies do not want to be represented by people with tattoos that show.

While I don't judge people with tattoos, it does make me wince when I see a young person who is tattooed on her face or neck or anywhere she can't cover. Because, at nineteen there is little you can do to make yourself unattractive. But those tats or scars or earlobes are still going to be there when you're sixty, or when you decide that you might want to be a trial lawyer instead of working in a music store. I have an antique tattoo on my shoulder (another hint - don't get one where you're going to gain weight!) and I have to say I miss the days when only lesbians had tattoos!

I personally don't have a problem with tatoos, I sport a few myself. But, I can see how in the corporate world that obvious tatoos might work against someone trying to get ahead.
I've told my son that if he wants to get tatoos, to make sure none of them will ever show when wearing a suit. None on the arms below the forearm and none above the collar line.
Because others will judge him for it.
If I had a daughter, I'd try to discourage a "hag tag" or "trash tat" (The ones just above the buttox on the lower back) as a first tatoo. It's become quite the rage for girls to get these tats and seen as a sign of being permiscuous. I'd encourage her to rethink her ideal placement of a tatoo.

People need to open their minds. It's one thing if the tattoos are on your face or can be seen even when fully clothed. There is nothing to judge. Some people like art on their bodies, some people don't.

Actually I find tatoo's very atrrative, depending how are where they are. But I know what you mean. I have made sure that all mine are in places that are covered. My last two jobs would have never hired me if they had been visiable.
Its not a big deal to me because mine are special to me. i didn't get them done for other people and I just don't feel like listening to close minded uneducaited people.

I enjoy the art. I watch the TV.
But I do hold my reservations when confronted by guy's who dress as thugs to intimidate. Most of their tat cr_p is gang related and has little art involved. Do I judge I try to avoid, Most of the bikers are good people today but in the past (???)

Yes I do sometimes. Like when I see people with tatoos on their neck or fingers, places it can never be covered up - then I think they are silly. BUT in the same breath I think "well that is their right and they might not like something about me.'
