You are probably having Braxton Hicks contractions. They can go on for weeks before you actually do go into labor.

Yes, in a way. It can kinda be stalled. If it stops the ob will send you home and tell you to walk to restart your labor. Unless your are more than 3 cm dialated, then they give you a stimulant.

Yes, when I had my baby 8 months ago I was in active labor dialated to a 4 water had broke and my labor stopped. I was given pitocin to restart my labor.

Yes. If your cervix is not dialating this is called false labor, but it is also a good sign that the real thing is close.

it depends on what your talking about.
If your at the hospital and are dilated and then your labor stops, then yes, that is possible.
Now if your home and you think your in labor and then it stops, then No. Your just having Braxton hicks contractions. It's not real labor.

Oh you betchya. So long as your water hasnt broken yet, its quite common and not something to worry about.
Although its a pain in the butt.
just walk a lot. Do pelvic rolls, and stimulate your nipples.

yes, stop and go labor isn't that uncommon. my 3rd was like that. took 3 days., 4 &5, twins, i had a break of 12 hrs inbetween them, no assistancee of docs or drugs
