MAC has its advantages in the world of Art. Graphic designers use it almost exclusely.

But sharing data, documents in the business world means PC (IBM). With the PC, you get people that are trained on standardized tools. You reach 90 percent of the computer literacy and funtionality.

From a security point of view, the MAC wins. Many people that use MACs on-line simply don't have anti-virus programs. MAC users don't even know what SpyWare is.

So it all depends on what you intend to do with it. But look at the programs that your profession offers.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

In the past I would have suggested that you find the software you want to work with first and then choose the appropriate computer to run that software. While that is still the best path to take, it is no longer strictly necessary. That's because the new Intel based Macintoshes will allow you to run BOTH Mac OS X and windows! This is possible through either the free "Bootcamp" software provided by Apple as a download or "virtualization" software available from Parallels Desktop, and soon from others. This is NOT EMULATION! You are actually running both operating systems natively on the hardware so they are just as fast as running them on dedicated machines.

Since you CAN run Windows on a Macintosh, I would definitely recommend a Mac for an interior design business. Industrial design is of great importance in such an industry and the Mac certainly shines in that area. Additionally, there is a wealth of design related software written specifically for the Mac so you should never go wanting for the appropriate software solution.

Macs have been garnering rave reviews across the board. . . even from stalwart Windows users.

All of the above combined with the generally accepted superiority of Mac OS X in usability and security should be enough to sway your decision toward a Mac.

Some of the links below should shed some light on both the issues discussed and the point of view of Windows users working with Macs.

well when it comes to designs i can assure you that MAC is the best, there is no doubt about it, i'm not going to explain why cause it needs a day, but in brief MAC is much more reliable than PC in handling designs, i'v been working on advertisement designs for more than 5 months now and i feel much more comfortable with working on MAC than PC.

Graphics designers use Mac's. More graphic friendly. My daughter got one for college and she is a music major. Many of her fellow students got PC's. They hate how fast she can do things compared to them. Even her boyfriend, who is a PC tech, admits the macbook is better.
