Check out Peter Straub, he is excellent! He co-wrote "The Talisman" and "Black House" with Stephen King, but has written many great books on his own. (I personally recommend "Ghost Story", "Mystery", "The Throat", "Lost Boy Lost Girl", and "KoKo".)

Stephen King defiently. he's so proficient. i like his mini sequence mutually with Kingdom well being midsection and The Stand. i like getting over excited in his books too. the videos are somewhat interesting as you could tell. he's in basic terms something new than all of the comparable horror movie/ e book stuff. He bottles your suggestions and makes you think of in an completely in a distinctive way way. he's spectacular. nicely, anyhow that's my opinion

Clive Barker writes in the same genre. However for a great reading experience available at any library, try reading all of Ray Bradbury's works.

Bentley Little. He writes supernatural stories. I just finished one about a vampire in a small Arizona town. I also read one where the postman was only bringing people good mail, no bills, then it turned out he was evil, and scary stuff starting happening to people. He also wrote a book about a home owners association in a gated community where they tried to create a Stepford like community.
Good Stuff, Maynard!!

not horror and suspense but i do know of several good authors of mystery...sharyn mccrumb, diane mott davidson to start. personally i love dean kootnz style and i loved some of stephen king's older material but he got really strange for a while there. his new one 'the cell' though is much like his older stuff and i enjoyed it very much. also you could go to barnes and nobles or amazon's website and i think you can actually search for titles by authors in the same genre
