A bruise or contusion or ecchymosis is a kind of injury, usually caused by blunt impact, in which the capillaries are damaged, allowing blood to seep into the surrounding tissue. They often induce pain but are not normally dangerous. Sometimes, however, bruises can be serious, leading to other more life threatening forms of hematoma, or can be associated with serious injuries, including fractures and internal bleeding. Minor bruises are easily recognized by their characteristic blue or purple color in the days following the injury.

The extent of bruising depends on many factors. The state of the tissue (tensed muscle versus relaxed muscle, for example) can make a large difference, as can the effect of being crushed against underlying bone. People also vary in the sturdiness of their capillaries — some people bruise more easily than others. A deficiency in Vitamin C can make a person more susceptible to bruises.

Hello, everything makes me bruise as well. If I am even touched to hard I bruise. Have have now on my leg something like a bruise but doesn't hurt (or did it ever?). Just a 1"x2" discoloration...
I also gets cramps in parts of my arms, legs that after it is done it leaves a hurt spot but no discoloration.

Go get yourself checked out. I have RA which is very painful but might be the cause of my bruising? Or feeling like I am bruised..

there are different kind of bruises. One, the one that turns purple etc, happens when blunt injury causes blood vessels in the skin to break and bleed into surrounding tissues. Another is when the nerves in the skin are bumped hard enough to inflame them but not hard enough to cause the blood vessels to break. It is the nerves that are bruised. Both bruise types take about the same amount of time to heal.

Broken capillaries from an injury cause bruising. I too, bruise quite easily. I read that taking vitamin c helps prevent bruising.

A bruise is caused by broken blood vessels under your skin, thats what gives it the reddish color at fist.

Then as it heals, it stsrts to turn all kinds of wild colors.

That is from your body cleaining it up naturally.

Bruises are cause by microscopic capillaries rupturing underneath the skin, and clotting. If you don't have much body fat, there is nothing to cusion your skin from the hardness of your bones.
