I assume you have tried to uninstall it from your Add and Remove Programs list. Now after you have done that look in your program files and delete any reference to McAfee. Then run a registry cleaner to get rid of anything left. I use RegScrubXP.

Download RegScrubXP--http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2048

Safely cleans junk out of the Windows 2000/XP system registry. All changes made to the registry are fully restorable to it's original condition. You can make an exclusion list of registry entries that RegScrubXP will not display as problems. You can sift through a list of file extensions, company names, run upon startup programs, Internet Explorer history, and uninstall programs to delete what you think is junk.

A different method would be to try a un-installer.

If you just delete the program it will not be uninstalled. You must go to the Add/Remove programs file in the control panel (Press START, and then go to: SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS) Scroll down to MACAFEE ANTI VIRUS and Click CHANGE/REMOVE and go from there.

Or if that isen't your problem you might want to put in your Macafee disk and see if it has a unistall program utility.

Have you tried removing it through Add/Remove Programs? If not, try that. If that doesn't work, try this removal tool:
