My husband is gone on a monthly basis or sometimes longer and i am a housewife, mother of 3, and i do feel lonely. I go do errands by my self and everything else. We only communicate by phone. Have any marriages survived this?

I am an owner and I used to drive a truck and I have also been on the other end of staying home. It takes a strong woman to stay behind when their husband is on the road. But, while you don't hear it, he is most likely the one always talking on the radio about his wife and kids.....Being a truck driver is difficult in its self let along having to leave a family behind. Most of us run as hard and as fast as we can go to chase the memory of what we are leaving behind away, but it never works.

You can ask him if he can find a different trucking company that will get him home more often that will still give him about the same base pay. My guys are in every week for a minimum of 34 hours (unless they request different) we mandate our drivers home every week and they all make good money. You didn't say what pulls which can make a difference sometimes. But that would be my best suggest.

You both need to compromise on this situation if him being gone for so long is becoming an issue there are definite ways to work this out. So don't give up, just change the communication a little.

You can take the driver out of the truck, but you will NEVER take the truck out of the driver and that is something you gonna have to understand. He will always have the itch to run, so compromise, its a workable situation. Keep 18 to the ground!!

Two of my uncles have been long distance truck drivers for 30+ years and they each have two sons who have also been truck drivers for over 10 years. All 6 of them are married and have never been divorced, so from personal/family experience I can state that a trucker's marriage can definitely survive.

Knowing that a marriage like that CAN survive and being satisfied in your own marriage to a trucker can be totally unrelated. You certainly sound unhappy with the situation. Life is way too short to spend it being unhappy. You have several options open to you. (This list is of course not complete but I just wanted to throw some suggestions out there and maybe you could come up with something not on this list that would work better for you).

1. Hubby could switch from being a long haul driver to driving for a company on a local route which would put him home everyday (you might have to give up some income to do that).

2. You could find a girlfriend to do errands with you. Maybe you could even find a girlfriend who's also married to a trucker. Hubby is bound to know other married truckers.

3. Get yourself a boyfriend who's not looking for a commitment.

4. Go on a "adult match" web site like Xmatch and find someone to be with on a physical basis when hubby is gone for long stretches of time.

5. Stay unhappy and just deal with it.

6. Get divorced and find yourself another hubby who works locally.

Good luck

you do no longer could "practice" her as though she is a dogs!!! initially, your present day difficulty could me the effect of a few thing... what has been occurring between you 2?? have not you tried to contemplate that she could be even much less chuffed than you're?? you're questioning virtually "fingering" and stuff like that as quickly as in line with threat the source of the difficulty is verbal replace?, empathy? and information??? the rest previous the mere sexual act? and don't even attempt to take this occasion as an excuse and cheat on your spouse now!! that could very egocentric or maybe immature for a guy of your age... attempt to hearken to what she has to assert and don't decide her of having classic thoughts... im beneficial there is lots to shop in on your marriage, much greater after 22 years!!!!! sturdy success and sorry If I spoke strongly yet men now and returned are so inconsiderate....

Yes your marriage can survive, just make every time he is home, that the honeymoon still exsists!!!!
Military wives, Truck driver's wives, and even Tow boat wives on the river or the oceans.
Do things, voluteer in schools, library just keep your self busy.
communicate through the phones, and when he stops at motels have computers, tell him drop you and email too.
jdont give him the guilt trip, but keep honest, and your reports up to date, and just let him know that you appriacted him, and all his sacrifices he does, and when he is home, enjoy every moment with him, and make sure it is a honeymoon every time he is home!

people who go into a relationship knowing and understanding their rolls usually do survive such situations.People who ignore their realities and later begin a campaign of complaints usually end up ruining what was obvious from the very beginning.
